The Prefect Team

Founder & CEO

Jeremiah began designing Prefect when he was the Director of Risk Management for a large investment firm, inspired by lessons learned as a PMC member of Apache Airflow. Previously, he started the risk and data teams at King Street Capital Management and built an early machine learning software company, giving him hands-on experience with almost every aspect of the modern data science stack. Jeremiah received a master's degree in statistics and bachelor's in economics from Harvard University.

Head of Strategy

As Prefect’s Head of Strategy, Hiro leads the company’s overall go-to-market efforts and global growth strategy. Hiro previously spent the last 4 years as Chief of Staff to the Chairman and CEO at DocuSign where he was responsible for a variety of pivotal initiatives as well as the company’s global expansion. Alongside the company’s Chairman and CEO, Keith Krach, Hiro executed a set of strategic chess moves that forged global partnerships, cross-cultural relationships, and drove critical executive alignment ultimately transforming DocuSign from a growing startup to a market-dominating, publicly-traded company. Prior to DocuSign, Hiro rose through the ranks to lead Salesforce’s efforts in the Pacific Northwest. Hiro holds a Bachelor of Science degree in political science from the University of San Diego.

Product Lead

Dylan likes JavaScript more than most people like their dogs. Before joining Prefect, Dylan discovered his passion for building beautiful user interfaces at Optoro. Previously, Dylan was a SysAdmin, Full Stack Developer, Recruiter, and Career Coach (in that order). Dylan attended American University where he majored in Business Administration. His CS chops came from Hack Reactor.

Tech Lead

Chris has always had a passion for building data-driven tools founded on the right abstractions, so that other scientists and engineers can efficiently realize and deploy their ideas in creative and robust ways. Prior to Prefect, Chris was a Data Scientist Manager at Capital One, where he went from building regulatory attrition models to being a lead engineer on a new platform for deploying and working with credit card valuation models. Chris received his Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Texas at Austin in 2015.

Data Engineer

Before joining Prefect, Josh was a Software Engineer at Kensho Technologies and responsible for overseeing the creation and maintaining of event aggregation data pipelines. His motivation to join Prefect was driven by both his experience building data engineering infrastructure at Kensho and struggling with it when performing research with scientists from NASA at the Jet Propulsion Lab and the Goddard Space Flight Center. Josh received his bachelor's in computer science from the University of Maryland.

Principal Designer

Ngan's love for design and code started when she decided it was very important that she customize her Neopets shop with Dollz gifs and trailing donut cursors. Since then, she's been passionate about building user interfaces and intuitive products that make people's lives easier. The unique opportunity to create efficient and smart data-driven tools for scientists and engineers was what drew Ngan to Prefect. Prior to joining the team, Ngan was a Senior Designer at New Target and Vox Media. DCFemTech named her one of DC's Most Powerful Women Designers in 2016 and 2017. Ngan graduated from George Mason University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design.

Cloud Engineer

Zachary is passionate about building elegant, scalable, and intuitive products. Prior to joining Prefect, he honed his skills as a Product Engineer with Cloudreach and an Analyst at Goldman Sachs. Zachary received his Bachelor of Science from The College of William and Mary, majoring in computer science and minoring in Chinese language and literature.

Senior QA Engineer

DevOps Engineer

Tyler began building scalable, resilient, efficient systems as a way to procrastinate building a scalable, resilient, efficient life.  His mission is to spread good by making everyone else’s life a little bit easier and a lot more automated, so they can spend their time building things they care about—naturally, the American University alum is thrilled to be part of building an empowerment engine in Prefect.
