As a Senior Solutions Engineer at Prefect, you will be a primary contact with our customers. You will own the technical relationship and be responsible for their success. You will find a balance of providing them with solutions using existing functionality and advocating on their behalf by supporting their use cases during our internal product planning sessions.
As a member of our engineering team, you will be effective in providing technical solutions, identifying and fixing issues, and owning and building documentation geared towards customer solutions and success. As an early member of the Solutions Engineering team, you will be tasked with building processes and operations that scale in addition to building close relationships and processes with other members of our organization, primarily in sales.
You will coordinate with internal stakeholders, including our CTO and CEO, on new features and help Prefect execute our company’s product roadmap. You will proactively identify opportunities for improvement, build consensus, track risks and dependencies and lead projects to completion with a positive attitude.

Engage directly with customers to design, develop and deploy solutions
Identify and escalate issues, and where applicable provide fixes
Ability to uphold our documentation-first policy. Documentation at Prefect is not an afterthought - our documentation is integral to our adoption and scale and this role will be pivotal in the upkeep of this philosophy.
Design and develop integrations with 3rd parties relevant to your customers’ success
Develop and build a system with the Sales and Customer Success teams that scales our post-sales support model
You are a self-starter and problem-solver: you will not hesitate in taking ownership of your ideas and advocating for them
Extreme attention to detail - Prefect requires thinking through extreme edge cases without losing sight of providing a simple user experience
Qualifications (you must have):
5+ years of experience in customer solutions, forward deployment
5+ years experience working with Python
5+ years of working with data architectures and tools, building and maintaining data pipelines
Experience deploying and monitoring scalable Kubernetes applications
Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP)
High quality technical writing and communication skills
Experience delivering projects from inception to production
Management or leadership experience
About you (we’d like you to have):
Deep knowledge of distributed computation in Python
Experience with GraphQL APIs and best practices
Experience contributing to open source projects
Excellent judgement and analytical ability
Demonstrated track record as a successful people manager
Experience in a start-up or high-growth environment
Experience with data engineering and data science workflows
