Senior Technical Product Manager

About Prefect:

Are you looking for an incredible opportunity to work with a high-growth technical SaaS company? Our workflow orchestration platform bridges the gap between data engineers and data scientists, allowing them to focus on their work while we handle the often-frustrating details of defining, monitoring, and managing workflows. We are looking for enthusiastic new additions to our team who are excited about eliminating negative engineering and the question, “What will you build?”

Role Summary:

As Prefect’s Senior Technical Product Manager, you will work on and lead projects critical to the success of the company, taking features and products from conception to launch. As the first member of Prefect’s product organization, you will report to our CEO and work together to implement Prefect’s product vision as the standard tool for dataflow automation.

The Senior Technical Product Manager will be primarily responsible for transforming our product vision into actionable, tangible outcomes that deliver value to our users. You will coordinate with internal stakeholders, including our CEO and CTO, to implement and execute an ambitious roadmap, including the next generation of Prefect products. You will proactively identify opportunities for improvement, build consensus, track risks and dependencies and lead projects to completion with a positive attitude.

To succeed in this role, you will need a strong understanding of our users. You will need to be deeply empathetic to the negative engineering problem and be motivated by creating first-class user experiences. The features you deliver will have positive impacts across multiple products including our SaaS platform and our open-source APIs, and you will ensure that minor details receive as much care as major strategic directives.

  • You will determine appropriate success metrics and prioritize goals within our product roadmap

  • You will develop processes and frameworks for an effective product organization

  • You will ensure a high quality of work is delivered across research, design, and engineering

  • You will be extremely comfortable exploring new ideas, operating in an environment that prizes iterative experimentation, and avoiding inertial thinking

  • You will work closely with our customers, understand their needs and prioritize their use cases

  • You will understand our ecosystem and be empathetic to user needs

  • You will assist the broader Prefect team in gaining product knowledge and understanding

Qualifications (you must have):

  • Experience bringing a developer tool product to market

  • Experience in interfacing with cross functional teams, including Engineering, Sales, Design, and Marketing

  • Experience and familiarity with technical architectures, development lifecycles, and understanding of multi-tenant platforms

About you (we’d like you to have):

  • You have hands-on experience with the modern data stack or related software

  • You're familiar with data science and data engineering workflows

  • You're excited about open-source software

  • You enjoy creative data visualizations

  • You’re comfortable building reports and dashboards with Looker
