As the Director of People at Prefect, you will develop and build scalable systems to take us from 25 employees to 100+. We’re proud of the HR and culture framework we’ve established, and are looking for a Director of People to thoughtfully scale the function in line with our executive team’s vision. Building the right team and developing our talent as we quickly scale will be crucial to our company’s success. You will be a proactive thought partner and report to our COO who currently oversees the full spectrum of HR and culture.
What you’ll be doing:
Create an integrated HR infrastructure from the smallest process to strategic initiatives around culture to talent retention; a keen eye towards DEI
Develop a fantastic employee experience from the first interview to ongoing development and growth
Talent acquisition oversight, in partnership with our in-house recruiter. Understand and iterate on the hiring landscape (interns, domestic hiring, international teams, etc.)
Assess and manage benefits in order to attract and retain talent
Partner with the executive team to build our organizational structure, ensuring the broader Prefect team will collaborate and work together effectively
Manage culture and team-building for both a fully remote team, and the potential for creating either a hub or flex desk solutions (TBD)
Create well thought-out job leveling and comp bands in anticipation of scaling
Develop performance management systems and incentives that reward high performers and culture carriers
Advise and coach managers as needed, especially with any personnel issues
Manage all aspects of legal and compliance related to HR
You are a self-directed forward-thinker, always anticipating and building systems for our next phase of growth
2-4 years experience as an HR Business Partner, or experience with all functions of HR (talent acquisition, compliance, legal, performance management, management, compensation, org structure, job leveling, etc.)
Experience partnering with department heads and executive leadership
Preferred experience at a quickly growing tech company
Exceptionally high EQ and excellent interpersonal skills, including dispute resolution and conflict management
You blend your prior knowledge and experience with flexibility and adaptability based on company/team needs
You are a quick learner, eager to always up-skill yourself
You are excited to join a startup where you’ll both build the systems and roll up your sleeves
Ability to work with a multitude of stakeholders, both internal and external
You anticipate problems and “unknown unknowns” before they arise
Strong work ethic, high energy, and a team player
We are a remote company with the majority of our team in the San Francisco & Washington D.C area.
