Role Summary

We are seeking a Product Marketing Manager to establish Prefect’s marketing strategy that will support our community and product led growth efforts. The right candidate will be charged with developing marketing collateral and programs that will reach our target audience. They will have the opportunity to create new initiatives while leaning on their autonomy, creativity, and previous experience to execute best practices. 

We are looking for someone with a technical background, previous experience marketing a developer tool, and the desire to combine the role’s autonomy along with their creativity to create and drive forward an impactful product led growth marketing strategy. This role will report directly to the company’s CRO while working closely with our CEO and entire executive team. 

A Product Marketing Manager at Prefect will be responsible for defining customer engagement through world-class messaging and positioning, storytelling and customer insights. They will play an integral role in talking to and listening to customers, to understand and publicize their satisfaction, needs and frustrations; and using that to inform our product narrative. 

This is the perfect role for someone who is a self-starter eager to join a fast-growing technology company while creating and sharing a product narrative. 

What you’ll be doing

  • Develop comprehensive marketing plans to drive awareness to our community and users

  • Create meaningful content that articulates a clear value proposition of our offerings

  • Work with Prefect’s developer advocates to best serve our open source community

  • Autonomy - take the initiative to identify the areas of differentiation for Prefect and build the full suite of coverage from positioning, messaging, website, and detailed sales assets.  

  • Cross-functional collaboration - interact extensively with product, engineering and sales 

  • Leverage previous experience while redefining Prefect’s product marketing strategy with support from the entire executive team

  • Lead our marketing efforts to generate strong momentum ahead of new product launches

  • Focus on implementing programs that consistently generate opportunities from our self-serve community

  • Define, produce, and maintain product supporting material including website collateral, case studies, product one-pagers, and customer marketing content

Qualifications (you must have)

  • 3-5+ years' product marketing experience

  • Proven history of creating effective marketing programs

  • Exceptional writing skills and prior experience in producing written content across a broad spectrum--from plans, to sales copy, white papers, case studies, and blog posts.

  • Excellent time management and project prioritization skills

  • You have a technical background and understand modern system architecture 

  • Strong listening skills and the ability to effectively communicate with Prefect customers, community and colleagues

  • Strong work ethic, high energy, and a team player

About you (we’d like you to have)

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Experience in a start-up or high-growth environment 

  • You’re passionate about exploring new technologies

  • You have prior experience in monitoring, using Prefect or a similar product

  • You have had professional experience in development, product management, sales engineering or another technical role

  • You know how to enable and educate internal audiences about how to position competitively
